How to Sort Cracked Heels in 3 Simple Steps (Fast Results at Home)

Cracked heels hurt and can look rough. The good news is you can sort them at home with three easy steps usually within a month.

Do these steps every day and your heels will feel softer and look better.

Your feet work hard every day and the skin slowly thickens and then eventually cracks. You want to follow these steps for at least a month or your cracked heels will just come back if you stop early. Get the thick skin off, get it soft and healthy and enjoy walking easy.

What You Need

Step 1: Remove the Hard Dead Skin

Hard dead skin on your heels stops the balm from working properly. You need to take it off first.

How to do it:

  • Soak your feet in warm water for 5–10 minutes (or do it straight after a shower or when you take your boots off and the skin is soft).
  • Use the Sole Shaver on the thick, hard parts. Go slow and use light pressure. Let the shaver do the work. Change the blades often so they stay sharp.
  • Use the Pumice Stone on any rough spots that are left. Rub in small circles.
  • Dry your feet well.

Use the sole shaver only once or twice a week at the start while your heels get back to healthy, soft skin. Do not press hard or do it every day as you can remove too much skin.

Step 2: Apply Heel Rescue Balm

Now the thick hard skin is removed and we're closer to healthy skin your skin will easily soak up the Heel Rescue Balm.

How to do it:

  • Put a generous amount of Heel Rescue Balm on your heels and feet.
  • Rub it in really well, especially into any cracks and areas of thick skin.
  • Do this morning and night (or at least every night).

The shea butter and tallow in our balm softens the skin, helps sort cracks, and stops it drying out and re-cracking. Tallow is very similar to our natural skin oils so our bodies recognize it and it soaks in deeply.

Step 3: Lock It In and Keep Using the Balm

This step makes the biggest difference and helps stop the problem coming back.

How to do it:

  • After applying the balm, pull on our Moisture-Locking Heel Socks) straight away.
  • Wear these during the day under your normal socks or sleep with the socks on. This ensures the balm soaks in deep and stays there.
  • The balm will have soaked in and softened the skin.
  • Keep using the balm every day or every second day for at least a month, even after your heels look better.
  • Once you have your feet healthy again use the balm and pumice stone regularly for maintenance to help stop regrowth and cracking.

Hard days on your feet are why cracked heels often come back. Using the balm regularly is like brushing your teeth… but for your feet.

Quick Safety Tips

  • Always be gentle. If it hurts, use less pressure.
  • The Skin Shaver takes off about 0.5mm of skin per pass. Going too hard can make you bleed. Work slowly and take your time for best results.
  • Patch test the balm on a small spot first, especially if you have cracks.
  • If your heels are very bad, bleeding, or you have diabetes, talk to a podiatrist or doctor first.
  • Keep going even when it gets better. Stopping too soon will result in the skin thickening and re cracking.
  • Getting your skin back to healthy, soft, and flexible is the best way to stop it cracking and thickening again.
